Overview of DAVO
Dev Animal Voluntary Organization or DAVO is an “Old Age Home” for the abandoned elderly of our country. The organisation is registered under Society Registration Act 1860 and the Foreign Contributions (Regulation) Act, 1976.
Since last 35 years we are providing free shelter, food, clothing, medical care facilities, love and affection to the destitute and abandoned old aged.
All these facilities are provided to the elderly completely free of cost throughout the year. Most of these elders are picked up from the streets of Delhi NCR or brought in by Police/hospital authorities.
These persons are generally found on the railway station, bus stand, religious and other public places in very unhygienic, critically diseased and painful condition. Nobody comes forward to help or even to touch them. So due to lack of food, medicine, and care, their condition becomes more and more critical and even they generally go towards lingering and painful death.
DAVO is currently running 2 old age homes, one in Delhi and another one in Ganaur (Sonipat,Haryana). These are the home of 230 old men and women found alone and abandoned old age people. In the last 35 years we have rescued nearly 4,500 elders out of which more than 1,816 have been rehabilitated and more than 1,715 have been cremated.
Our vision is to save every helpless hopeless sick person who is in harsh and painful conditions and going towards lingering death due to lack of help and support. All of our efforts are to serve every destitute, orphan, needy and abandoned elderly by providing them free shelter, food, clothes, healthcare, love and respect. With a strong belief that helping old aged people and spreading awareness of elder care would not only give them a new life but also reduce the issue of elder abuse in the society.
All donations to DAVO are exempted from tax under section 80G (5)(vi) of Income Tax Act,1961.
